Just a quick post to let you know that our partner, Tyremen now import steel wheels for Fiat Ducato vans & Fiat Ducato based motorhomes. They have brought in these wheels for both standard Ducato and the Ducato Maxi.

Why have they done this?

Many calls were coming through to the Tyremen offices asking for single wheels due to the fact that many motorhomes are supplied without a spare wheel. It beggars belief that motorhome manufacturers think that it is acceptable to sell a van for £50k + and not supply a spare wheel. I personally wouldn’t fancy trusting a can of repair foam when driving a 4 tonne vehicle over long distances. Many drivers seem to share my opinion hence all the phone calls coming through.

Tyremen will happily supply these wheels as singles and if you were to buy a tyre too then they will happily fit it and balance (free of charge) before dispatching!

During the winter months Tyremen also receive inquiries from motorhome owners considering winter tyres and really wanted a second set of wheels to fit these on. Typically Tyremen only offered alloy wheels and understandably owners wanted a cheaper option. Now with a steel wheel offering, drivers can opt for a safe and cost effective winter solution.

Please note that the use of winter tyres on motorhomes on vans is a bit of a hot topic that requires it’s own post, I endeavor to tackle that one later in the year!

In terms of the product that has been imported here is some of the info that you may be interested in:

  • European made
  • Produced to original equipment standards
  • Available in 15″ & 16″
  • 15″ load rating 1000kg (per wheel), 16″ 1275kg.

UPDATE:

Times and wheels have changed in the last two years and more owners are looking to have something a little different on their vans. Alloy wheels have changed significantly and now come with the same weight ratings as the steel variants. To read more on this subject, click HERE we think you’ll enjoy the read.

Now buying a new set of 4 or even 6 alloys (for the tag axle versions) is even easier. Tyremen offer finance facilities (subject to status) on purchases over £300, 10% deposit required.

Good Afternoon, I live in Norwich.Could you tell me the cost of a 15″ Ducato (2012 model) wheel and basic tyre please?.What would delivery be?Many thanks.Do you know anyone who could supply a spare wheel carrier for my motorhome?

Which Tyres May 7, 2013 at 10:41 am

Hi Richard, the steel wheels are £75 delivered (inc vat), tyre price depends on size but assuming you’re on 215/70R15 then economy van tyres are currently £65 each. I’m afraid that I don’t know who could offer a spare wheel carrier, might be worth picking up a motoring mag and checking out the classifieds.

HI Phill
are there any garages near cambridge where I can have the wheels and tyres fitted and what would the extra cost be. Or alternativly could I have them delivered to Manchets in Burwell and pay for fitting myself
regards
david

When buying wheels and tyres Tyremen would fit the tyres and balance before dispatch. They don’t offer a bolt on service for motorhome wheels and tyres as not all garages are able to cope with such vehicles. They can of course deliver wherever you would like them to go.

Firstly ……couldn’t have put my feelings about not having a spare wheel any better than you comments
Now my motor home has a Ducato base but is fitted with fiat oem alloy wheels and they have the 215x70x15r tyres….question is will a steel wheel fit happily in place of one of these wheels if a puncture happens?
(I have just had to pay over £40 for locking wheels nuts as these alloy wheels came with just ordinary bolts…..so I would have added that to your comments and we are talking £50000area without locking wheel nuts as well as a “missing”spare wheel
Come back please

Which Tyres May 28, 2014 at 3:45 pm

Hi there,

Yes a steel wheel would certainly fit if a puncture happened. Ideally you would need steel wheel bolts to hold this on as the alloy bolts are a different spec, you would probably find that the locks are not suitable either. Tyremen have the bolts too if you need these, just give them a call on 08456 807 808. Cheers – Phill.

We have a fiat ducato motorhome which has 5.118 15 inch wheels on. We are looking to raise the backend of the motorhome so thinking of putting on 225/70 R16 alloy wheels. Will this work and if so who could supply these to us in NZ?

Reply

Jason Stevens-Read March 18, 2015 at 9:26 am

Hi Noreen,

This is probably our furthest away question and thank you for it.

On a 5X118 stud pattern you can fit 16″ alloy wheels with no issues. You would need to fit 205/65R16 which you would probably be best to source in NZ. We don’t know who would supply them locally, but we can arrange via Tyremen to have them shipped to you, although the cost could be quite high. here is a link to the web page http://www.tyremen.co.uk/van-wheels/fiat/ducato-2007?page=1 other styles are coming out on a regular basis.

For more information on styles and possible costs, please email Chris at info@tyremen.co.uk and he will advise.

Hope this has helped

Is there such a thing as a legal ‘space saving / get you home’ wheel and tyre for the Fiat Ducato (/ Chausson Welcome 88)? What would the cost be? My vehicle is currently on 215.70.R15 tyres.

Reply

Jason Stevens-Read April 7, 2015 at 7:54 am

Hi, sorry, but due to the weight of the Ducato there is not a spac saver wheel, it has to be a full steel or alloy wheel and normal tyre.

Hi Andy,

We wouldn’t recommend an economy tyre for a motorhome, you need the correct tyre for the job, even as a spare.

A steel wheel with a Continental Vanco Camper 116R delivered will be £225 (price subject to change) and all items in stock. Please feel free to call on 08456 807808 to arrange or discuss.

Thanks

We have a 2007 Bessacarr motorhome which is based on the 2006/15 Ducato 2.3multijet. The existing wheels are rusted and tatty looking but I’m also trying to save some weight on the motorhome.
